Combat Robot

Combat robots are built for fighting competitions, featuring sturdy structures, powerful systems, and offensive weapons. They use high-rate batteries for quick energy bursts. Grepow, with its R&D team, specializes in high-rate LiPo cells and provides battery packs and safe charging solutions.

The types of Combat Robots

Fighting robots can be categorized into several types based on their design and attack methods. Wedge bots use low, sloped fronts to get under and flip opponents. Spinner bots come in vertical and horizontal varieties, with high-speed rotating weapons to deal heavy damage. Flipper bots use pneumatic or mechanical systems to flip opponents into the air. Hammer bots rely on powerful, swinging arms to strike from above, while grabber or crusher bots use claws or pincers to crush or trap enemies. Lastly, ramming bots focus on speed and durability, aiming to slam into opponents with force. Each category has unique strengths depending on weaponry, mobility, and tactics.

FAQs on Combat Robots and the Batteries

What weight classes exist for combat robots?

Combat robots are classified by weight, ranging from lightweight (0.33 to 30lbs) to heavyweight (over 250lbs).

What are the combat robots kits?

Combat robot kits are pre-packaged sets that include essential components like the chassis, motors, ESCs, batteries, and sometimes weapons. They're designed for easy assembly, catering to beginners and advanced users, offering a quick start to building combat robots.

What is the role of speed controllers (ESCs) in combat robots?

ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers) manage the power delivered to the motors, allowing precise control over speed and movement.

What types of batteries are used in combat robots?

Most combat robots use LiPo (Lithium Polymer/Lipol) batteries due to their high energy density and ability to deliver powerful bursts of energy.

What can we know from the battery package?

Gens ace RC hobby Lipo Battery Classic Series

450mAh-Battery Nominal Capacity: mAh = “milliamp-hours.”  This is a measure of how much current the battery can provide per hour. For example, the 400mAh batter can provide 450milliamps (0.45 amps) per hour or 4.5 amps for 1/10 hour (6 min- more than a match)!

11.1v-Nominal Voltage: 3S: S=”series”, so 3S is a battery with 3 cells in series. Each cell can deliver a nominal 3.7v, so a 3S delivers 11.1v. V=”Volt”.

75C-Discharge C-Rate : Occasionally a battery description will also include a C-number. C defines the continuous safe current draw of the battery. In this case, 45C is 45 x 450mAh or 4500mA (4.5 amps). If the bot exceeds the maximum safe continuous current draw, the battery runs the risk of burning out or bursting into fire.

Why are high-rate batteries important for combat robots?

High-rate batteries can deliver large amounts of current quickly, which is essential for powering weapons and motors during intense battles.

How do I safely charge and discharge LiPo batteries?

Always use a dedicated LiPo charger with safety features, and follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to avoid overcharging or deep discharging.

Combat Robot Battery Recommended Chargers

 iMars D300 300W Charger for 1S-6S batteries.

iMars S100 100W Battery Charger for 2S-6S batteries.

iMars Mini 60W Charger for 2S-4S batteries.

**Before choosing the charger, please pay attention to know your battery type (Lipo /LiHV/Li-ion/LiFe/NiMH/Ni-Ca,etc) and the number of series connection (1S/2S/3S...). Then choose a charger that can take care of your batteries.
